I would demand that a DJ at a radio station be thrown in JAIL for playing a very offensive paradoy song if I lost a family member?
I think not. I would be pissed off yes, but I still do not demand incarceration for opinions that differ from mine (or are generally deemed offensive).
Foul, truly foul. You would think grown people would know better than this. Seems like these people haven't evolved any further than the schoolyard bully. And yes, we do have the right to free speech;however, we also have responsibilites in addition to our 'rights'.
Perhaps it is you who should re-think and re-read as I did not specifically say throw the DJ in jail.
I do not think the DJ @ HOT 97 took it upon himself to play that truly offensive song. I said whoever OK'ed that song (if you want to call it that) should be put in jail for a decent length of time. I believe the DJ was told by a higher ranking official at the radio station to hit the play button.
That person should spend a decent length of time in a small box that has no escape (like a jail) with some of the people who lost their mother, siblings and significant others.
Those victims especially should be permitted to inflict mental and physical torture on the person/s responsible for letting that garbage be heard on air.
The radio station infected countless others with horrifying lyrics by playing that disgraceful piece.

They once threw people in jail who expressed opinions that did not agree with the majority of people............It was called NAZI GERMANY!!!
Is the song offensive? Yes!
Should they be fired or thrown in jail? No.
Let the free market place weed people like this out. Don't ask for government intervention.
If you had a member of your family lose their life in the Tsunami you would feel differently.

I think you should rethink.
